Self-Compassion Training

ABOUT

Self-compassion can be described and being compassionate to oneself – treating ourselves the way we might loved ones. Offering kindness, love, and encouragement to ourselves and withholding criticism and judgement has been shown to help us become more resilient and mentally healthy, including in the workplace. There are many strategies one can learn to practice more self-compassion, many of which can be utilized or taught in a workplace setting.

The training and programs included a variety of different focuses ranging from psychoeducation and information about the brain, breathing, meditation, mindfulness, and imagery practice, and of course information and tactics that help promote self-compassion. Types of programs and strategies include:

Notes About this Intervention
  • Self-compassion teachings can be offered in a variety of methods. Trained external providers can offer training, online self-compassion focused activities are also available and many existing well-being and in particular, mindfulness based resources (including apps) have self-compassion focused activities. Though even shorter programs can have a positive impact on employee well-being, greater benefit is more likely to come from programs that are longer and occur over multiple sessions.
