- Withdrawal Management Services
- Day Withdrawal Management Services (WMS): Community Withdrawal Management Services (CWMS) offers an alternative to residential withdrawal management for individuals who can safely withdraw from alcohol and/or other drugs in a safe and supportive community environment. This includes assessing substance use and withdrawal needs, referrals to appropriate services and level of care; providing information about withdrawal to the support person, providing education and support during the withdrawal, facilitating the involvement of family physician, minimizing the risk of withdrawal complications. Support after the acute withdrawal experience includes working with the client to identify and determine their goals and develop a plan of care which may include an assessment and referral to residential treatment.
- Withdrawal/Crisis *WMS1: To provide professional non-medical crisis services and interventions for persons sixteen years or older who are intoxicated, in withdrawal, in crisis related to drugs and/or alcohol and appropriate for non-medical intervention.
- Community Withdrawal Management Services (WMS): Day Withdrawal Management Services are provided to assist people in the early stages of change/recovery. Services are primarily group based, and include symptom management, skills building, relapse prevention and referral to appropriate community services.
- Assessments
- Adult Assessment: Treatment models offered are AA, psychosocial, cognitive-behavioural, stages of change, harm reduction, and multidisciplinary. Client may be referred at this stage internally or externally. One to two hours per assessment. One to two assessments per day.
- Youth Assessment: Treatment models offered are AA, psychosocial, cognitive-behavioural, stages of change, harm reduction, and multidisciplinary. Client may be referred at this stage internally or externally. One to two hours per assessment. One to two assessments per day.
- Family Assessment: To provide education and support regarding alcohol, drug abuse and problem gambling to family members who continue to live with or are connected to a person who continues to abuse alcohol or drugs, and problem gambling. The program is also for those connected to a person in recovery from abusing alcohol, drugs or problem gambling.
- Counselling
- Youth Counselling: Psycho-education model on an individual basis.
- Adult Counselling: Based on assessment. Cognitive-behavioural and psycho-educational models. Individual and group work. Abstinence or harm-reduction based.
- Gambling
- Gambling Assessment: To assess people having difficulties with gambling concerns. Program provides treatment recommendations.
- Gambling Counselling: Individual sessions based on treatment recommendations derived from the assessment.
- Family Gambling Program: Family gambling program.
- Prevention & Awareness: Speaking and community presentations to anyone who requests it. Posters, brochures, etc.
- Treatment & Aftercare
- Community Treatment Order Program: In the Community Treatment Order (CTO) program, individuals who are placed on a CTO have the process coordinated from this office. Average program length may vary.
- Adult Concurrent Disorders: Harm reduction, individualized, continuous intake, bio-psychosocial and cognitive-behavioural models, on-site.
- Aftercare Program: A group format, continuous intake, abstinence-based program.
- Assertive Community Treatment: Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is a community-based model of care for individuals who have severe and persistent mental illness. It reaches out to people assertively where and when they need help directly in their home and in the community. It ensures a response for people who are in crisis, no matter what day of the week. ACT brings a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals together to provide highly integrated and individualized services for their clients. ACT gives people a single point of access: one door to comprehensive treatment, rehabilitation and support. Model of service is assertive community treatment.
